Family Support Program
Offered quarterly to families of survivors, to both our own Participants’ families and the general public. Requested brain injury “theme” topics include:
• Relationship Development & Sexuality
• Substance Abuse
• Understanding TBI What to Expect
• Legal and Financial Considerations (i.e. Special Needs Trusts)
• Behavioral Approaches
Facilitator of the Family Support Program is Janet Facklam, MS, CRC. Janet has had well over a decade of experience in TBI Counseling and Service Coordination as well as personal insight and challenges of her own experience with a traumatic brain injury. Janet also serves as an Assistant Professor at Hilbert College in nearby Hamburg, NY for the Center for Rehabilitation and Disability Studies.

American Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists
New Frontiers in TBI has an on-staff Certified Brain Injury Trainer (formerly titled Certified Brain Injury Clinical Examiner) and can provide your staff with certification as Certified Brain Injury Specialists (CBIS) or Certified Brain Injury Trainers (CBIT). This service provides an enhanced understanding of acquired brain injury issues, including:
• Incidence and epidemiology of brain injury
• Continuum of services
• Brain anatomy and brain-behavior relationships
• Functional impact of brain injury
• Effective treatment approaches
• Children and adolescents with brain injury
• Health and medical management
• Family issues
• Legal and ethical issues
