Eligibility for NFTBI's Licensed Home Care Services Agency (LHCSA):
At this time, NFTBI does not accept private insurance directly, but clients may find that their insurance companies will reimburse them for services rendered after they have been paid for privately. To receive services from our LHCSA, a medical diagnosis and physician's orders are required, except for homemaking and housekeeping.
I have a loved one with a brain injury, how do I go about getting these services from the TBI Waiver program?
For Waiver services, the process requires contacting the local Regional Resource Development Specialist in order to initiate the enrollment process.
For licensed home care services, we will arrange an RN visit for a free assessment and we will start services as soon as you indicate.

How long does it take to start receiving services?
Every case is different. To enroll in the HCBS TBI Waiver program, there are a number of steps that need to take place. The entire enrollment process could take up to a few months: however our staff are committed to doing everything in their power to help make this process as quick and efficient as possible. For licensed home care services, services can begin as soon as our staff have had an opportunity to assess your needs and the appropriate paperwork is completed. Staffing can begin as soon as these initial steps have been taken.
How much do your services cost?
For participants of the HCBS TBI Waiver program, services are paid for by Medicaid, therefore there are no direct charges to the client. For licensed home care services, our charges are hourly and the price per hour is based upon the level of care that is required and the individual situation.
Is assistance available 24/7?

Even if I’m not there, how do I know my loved one will be cared for properly, especially in an emergency?
New Frontiers is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If your loved one is not already with staff and offices are closed, we always have someone available via our answering service. We usually can respond immediately.
What if I have a complaint?
Each person receiving services is provided a list of contacts which identifies the names and phone numbers of their staff members, their immediate supervisors, as well as the agency Administrator. If for any reason, that list is not available you can always contact our office and your complaint will be directed to the appropriate person. In addition, for Participants on the TBI Waiver program, the Brain Injury Association of New York State can also be contacted at (800) 228-8201.
